Delhi News Update: Special CBI court awards death penalty to main accused Surinder Koli in Nithari killings

The main accused in the Nithari killings, Surinder Koli,   was awarded the death penalty by a special CBI court in Ghaziabad.   The court announced the death sentence in connection with murder charges against the accused. The judge also awarded seven years’ imprisonment to his employer Moninder Singh Pandher in the case, besides a fine of Rs 62,000 on Koli and Rs 4,000 on Pandher, officials said. The sensational killings came to light after the Noida police found human remains in a drain behind the accused’s house sixteen years ago. Accused Koli and Pandher are currently incarcerated for rape and murder of multiple persons. A signboard of Aurangzeb Lane in Lutyens’ Delhi  was defaced on Thursday  by the Delhi  BJP  Yuva Morcha, which pasted a banner that read ‘Baba Vishwanath Marg’ over it. Incessant rains continue in Karnataka, Bengaluru may witness downpour

Heavy downpour continued to wreak havoc in various parts of Karnataka including Bengaluru for the third consecutive day on Thursday, May 19. More rains are in store for the state, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red warning in six districts — Uttara Kannada, Davanagere, Shivamogga, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Chikkamagaluru for May 19. Two other districts —  Hassan and Kodagu — are under an orange warning, while a yellow warning has been issued for the rest of the state. As a result of the downpour, Bengaluru’s residents shiver as the IMD recorded a maximum temperature of 22.4°C in the city, while the minimum temperature dropped to 21.5°C for the past 24 hours ending at 5.30 pm on May 19. At the station at the Kempegowda International Airport, the IMD recorded a maximum temperature of 23.8°C and a minimum of 21.2°C. Road rage case: Navjot Singh Sidhu likely to surrender before police today

Former Punjab Congress chief  Navjot Singh Sidhu  is likely to surrender before the Patiala police on Friday afternoon. The Supreme Court orders, according to the police officials, will first be received by the Punjab and Haryana High Court from where the same will be forwarded to the district and sessions court in Patiala. The orders will be endorsed to the police officer concerned. As Navjot Singh Sidhu's residential address in the court case is 26 Yadvindra Colony, the investigation officer concerned will come with orders to Sidhu's residence. After receiving the orders, Sidhu will either be asked to accompany the cops or will be given an option to surrender. A Senior Police officer said a police team will continue to follow Sidhu even if he opts to surrender. Sources say the action on the orders will begin around 12 AM and Sidhu's arrest is possible in the afternoon.
